Colette Rossant is the author of eight cookbooks and a memoir, APRICOTS ON THE NILE which was shortlisted for the Thomas Cook Travel Award and was selected as a Radio 4 Read of the Week. A James Beard nominated journalist, she is a columnist for the Daily News and a contributor to many food and travel magazines. Colette Rossant lives in New York with her husband.

It is 1947 and Paris is recovering from the war. As soon as Colette's family arrive from Cairo, her mother abandons her yet again. Terribly homesick, Colette finds solace in the kitchen with the cook Georgette, and discovers a love for French food - roasted lamb stuffed with garlic, springtime strawberries bathed in crème fraiche, the first taste of truffle. And it is through food that Colette finds happiness in Paris, skipping school to go to the farmers' market in Port de Neuilly and dining in Michelin-starred restaurants with her new stepfather. Then at sixteen, she meets a dashing young American - and, despite all opposition from her family, never looks back...

'This is a book for Francophiles and for anyone else who wants to make simple food well. Just don't, whatever you do, read it when you're hungry'

'It is a story told through food, rich with tastes and aromas ... these add sensory detail to every anecdote, and leave flavours lingering in the mind - garlic, plum, tarragon, rosemary - long after the book is finished'

Sequel to the massive food memoir, Apricots on the Nile, where Colette moves to Paris and falls in love
